I love to prepare dry meals using dried mushrooms in mason jars before heading into the forest! Just bring the broth to a boil to cook the meal and voila!
Here is an idea of dry meals with dried mushrooms to prepare before leaving for camp!
In a mason jar:
- Rice arborio
- Dehydrated mushrooms
- Dried tomatoes
- Laurier
- Second
- Green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
To be expected in addition:
- Oil or butter
- Bouillon
- Parmesan or other cheese of your choice (optional)
In a saucepan, brown the entire contents of the pot in the butter or oil and cook for 1 minute, stirring to coat well.
Add about 180 ml (3/4 cup) of broth at a time, stirring constantly. Add more broth when a furrow forms in the bottom of the pan by passing your wooden spoon. After about 20 minutes, the rice should be "al dente", have a creamy consistency and have almost absorbed all the liquid.
Add the cheese and enjoy!
